Community Impact

Our Position

United Way of Aiken County is committed to addressing the most serious human care needs of our community. To fulfill our mission of creating community impact, United Way of Aiken County is restructuring our relationship with local human care providers.

United Way of Aiken County recognizes that emerging needs may require the member agencies to partner with many different organizations in order to address community issues. The partnerships will continue to seek assurances that organizations are accountable, well-run, and ensure measurable positive outcomes. However, simply providing a well-run program will not guarantee United Way support. The expertise of the agencies is essential to the success of this effort.

Our United Way has historically seen its role as a funder-of-programs through our member agencies. These agencies have established systems of accountability that guarantee to United Way and the community that the programs that United Way funds produce positive results. These agencies will now be our key partners in achieving measurable community impact. The expertise they bring to the table is essential to the success of this effort.

United Way of Aiken County will engage residents in sustained collaborations to strengthen and improve conditions in Aiken County. We must build on the strengths of local individuals, associations, and institutions by focusing on specific actions and measurable results to meet the community’s priorities.
